He taught 4th and 5th grade for 15 years before being called into administration, and is currently serving as the principal of Alta Murrieta Elementary in Murrieta, California. Dwight Carter is a widely respected administrator who is highly experienced as a leader in curriculum innovation at the secondary level. In fact, he was invited to speak on this topic at the national level by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and was honored with a Digital Principal Award from NASSP. He has also served as an assistant high school principal, a middle school principal and a classroom teacher. He is currently serving as the Principal at New Albany High School. Dwight was inducted into the Jostens Renaissance Educator Hall of Fame in July, 2010; and he was nominated for a Bammy Award in 2013 and 2014 by the Academy of Education of Arts and Sciences. He is passionate about creating the best possible learning environment for all stakeholders to be successful.

School Superintendent Jay Eitner is a proud product of the New Jersey public schools. A graduate from Union High School in 1997, Jay attended The American University in Washington DC with a BA in interdisciplinary studies. He began his teaching career in Roselle, NJ teaching a variety of subjects, including social studies, computers, and literacy. Known for being ‘outside of the box’ and for strong technology infusion, Eitner strived to make a learning environment that was both student centered and data driven. Jay received his Masters Degree in 2004 and was hired to teach 8th grade social studies in the nationally recognized East Brunswick Public Schools. During his time in East Brunswick, Eitner has written and received over $140,000 in grants for his students. Grants ranged from podcasting equipment to creating a fully-interactive goldrush experience, where students dug for gold during their westward expansion unit. Jay obtained his supervisor, principal, and school administrator certificates from the NJPSA NJ-EXCEL program in 2009. Administratively, Eitner has served as a middle school Assistant Principal, a K-12 Supervisor of Social Studies, and has been a Superintendent of Schools in two districts. Recently, he was the 2015 educators choice pick for the national Superintendent of the Year for the BAMMY awards.

Sebastian Cognetta holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and was instrumental in launching Aveson Charter Schools, a nationally recognized model for Personalized Mastery Learning, and two of California’s first educator cooperatives, Aveson Educational Cooperative and Educators Cooperative. He is the school director for Aveson School of Leaders, Aveson’s elementary campus. Dr. Cognetta started his career in education as a teacher in Fontana, California before transitioning into consulting and school leadership. Believing deeply in more innovative and active support for teachers, Dr. Cognetta has also helped reshape professional development for teachers through a groundbreaking personalized professional development model.

Dr. Sharroky Hollie is the Executive Director of the Center for Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning, a not for profit organization dedicated to building culturally responsive communities across the country. He is a national speaker and author, providing professional development to educators across the country. In his 25 years as an educator, he has served as an assistant professor in teacher education for the California State University, co-founder of the Culture and Language Academy of Success laboratory school in Los Angeles, central office administrator, and teacher. His research primarily focuses on culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices for TK-12 teachers and effective professional development for educators.

Dr. Beverly J. Hutton is the Deputy Executive Director of NASSP’s Programs and Services. She has more than 30 years of school experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and district administrator. Dr. Hutton’s leadership experience at the school and central office levels uniquely positions her to lead the programs and services NASSP offers to benefit all school leaders. Beverly’s experience in the area of professional learning is critical to her understanding of the issues facing school leaders today. She served as a co-chair of the PSEL 2015 standards writing committee. Her educational background includes an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, an M.Ed. in Education Administration and Supervision, and a B.A. in English and Education. She is the author of a book entitled “Reculturing the Assistant Principalship – Perceptions and Practices”.

John Fleischman is the Assistant Superintendent of Technology Services at the Sacramento County Office of Education and is responsible for all of the information and educational technology operations for the SCOE districts. John has an extensive background creating and implementing informational and instructional media for use in a variety of educational environments. Working at the regional, state and national level he is currently guiding development and enhancement for several major technology initiatives including the Outreach and Technology Assistance Network and U.S.A. Learns, a comprehensive online program for teaching English to older adolescents and adults.
